THE season in the Galway 6-a-side soccer league is about to finish and plans are already underway for the new campaign.

Run by Leisure Leagues – Europe’s largest provider of six-a-side soccer – which takes place at the Salthill Devon FC on Sunday evening is set to begin its second season and Leisure Leagues Ireland Manager James Gasson is delighted.

“We run leagues all over Ireland now, but one of the first we started was in Galway so you could say that reaching a second season is a milestone for us.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone at the venue and to all the teams for making the league run so smoothly,” said Gasson.

“What we would dearly love to do is add a second division, as we all know the difference promotion and relegation makes to a league. We are working very hard to make this happen.”

All games will be refereed by a European Independent Football Federation (EIFF) official and all equipment is provided, with James adding: “All teams need to do in our leagues is turn up and play.”
