NEW PILOT PROGRAMME FOR GALWAY STROKE PATIENTS

A new rehabilitation project has been launched in Galway hospitals to improve treatment for stroke patients in the area.

The programme aims to restructure stroke treatment so patients can leave hospital and be rehabilitated at home on a daily basis for up to eight weeks.

Together with the HSE’s Community Services, Galway University Hospitals have rolled out the pilot programme this week and it will run until the end of the year.

This new treatment method is facilitated by a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Speech and language Therapists and medical social workers.
