New online beauty store based out of Williamstown
Health, Beauty and Lifestyle with Denise McNamara
For a proportion of our populace, the continuous lockdowns have proved an opportunity to pivot and change life direction. And so it was with a trio from Williamstown. Cassandra Tully, her mum Elizabeth Tully and good friend Serena Stack were all involved in some way in marketing and sales, with a background in luxury beauty.
The initial seed to set up their own online beauty marketplace was sown just last year through a need for information.
“And correct information that wasn’t pushing you for a sale, just simple facts for a person to make their own decisions about what they could or would need for their beauty and self-care when they were shopping. And if we needed that then we surely weren’t the only ones,” explains Cassandra.
“We all know that the beauty marketplace can be chaotic to say the least and obviously each of us are made up of completely differently, with completely different needs, so for us the terms ‘must-haves’, trends and fads have just become so commonplace that, well, what actually is a must-have? How do I know that this product won’t turn me into Shrek as opposed to the goddess it promotes?
“I guess there is always a big question mark over the word ‘trust’ in any form of sales and that is when we found our niche. A beauty store that is not desperately trying to sell you every product that it stocks. A beauty website that stocks only the highest quality products and brands and provides you with information in a neutral and user-friendly location with no pop-up ads, flashy marketing and offers.”
With the pandemic and the closure of shops came an accelerated shift to online.
So, it felt like the right time for the three women to take a leap. They developed a website, set up a warehouse, designed the brand name Hermosa and went live last May.
