New Mayor elected for the county
Galway Bay fm newsroom – County Galway has a new Mayor.
Oranmore Area Cllr Liam Carroll has taken over the mayoral chain from Councillor Tom Welby at a meeting of the Council at Prospect Hill this afternoon.

Councillor Liam Carroll was proposed as Mayor by party colleague Councillor Jarlath McDonagh and seconded by Councillor Jimmy McClearn.
Cllr Carroll was first elected to the local authority in 2009.
His election as mayor involves a pact between 13 Fine Gael Councillors, three Independents and Labour Tuam Area Cllr Shaun Cunniffe.
Connemara area councillor Eileen Mannion has been elected as Deputy Mayor.
