Galway Bay fm newsroom – The newest ship in the Irish Naval fleet has landed in Galway.
The L.E Samuel Beckett is an offshore patrol vessel equipped with the latest technology including remotely operated submarines and the capability to launch unmanned surveillance planes.
It’s the first of three ships expected to replace existing vessels L.E Emer, L.E Aoife and L.E. Aisling by 2017.
The 44-crew vessel will be open to the public for viewing at Galway docks between 2 and 4 tomorrow afternoon and from 1 to 3pm on Sunday.
Lieutenant Commander Eric Timon says everyone’s welcome to come aboard for a tour.
