New flights link between Cork and Galway from July
Date Published: 19-Apr-2010
A new service offering daily flights between Galway and Cork is to commence operations in July.
Isle of Man-based airline company Manx2.com will operate 14 flights a week between the two cities and improve connectivity between the West of Ireland and Cork and Kerry by reducing travel times from three hours to just 40 minutes. The service also opens the possibility of linking up with international flights out of Cork Airport.
It’s the first of Manx2.com’s expansion plans into Ireland and the companmy describes the service as a huge boost for business, tourism and leisure in Galway and the West of Ireland.
From Friday, July 2, two return flights will operate every weekday with a late flight on Friday night and Sunday nights at 7.55pm in addition to earlier 3pm departures. Fares will start from €29.95 each way including taxes and charges.
Welcoming the news, Michael Corless, chairman of Galway Airport, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional air connectivity between Galway and Cork and this further opens up regional air access within the island of Ireland. The schedule for this new service is in response to market demand for day return business trips as well as weekend breaks in either Galway or Cork.”
