NEW FACILITIES FOR SWAN SANCTUARY IN BARNA

A voluntary group in Galway that looks after injured swans and wetland birds will now have a new rehabilitation sanctuary.

Galway and Claddagh Swan Rescue have been given the go-ahead by the City Council for the holding pen and pool at Lough Rusheen Park in Barna.

Up to now, volunteers have been looking after injured birds in their own homes and gardens.

Spokesperson for Swan Rescue, Mary Joyce-Glynn says they will start work on the new facility shortly
