New 650 seat venue for city

GALWAY is set to get its very own Vicar Street-style concert venue with the opening of a state-of-the-art entertainment centre at the Radisson Hotel.
The old nightclub is to be transformed into a 650-capacity seated venue, with room for 1,100 people standing.
The venue will boast two stages and three bars within the gig area, with a wrap around balcony/mezzanine level and catering facilities. Entry will be via the hotel instead of by Lough Atalia
Road.
Glitzy black and silver wallpaper, paisley back panels and new plush carpets are set to give the centre an intimate Vicar-street feel, according to the Radisson’s general manager Stephen Hanley. The lighting and rigging systems will be equally ideal for concerts, comedians, dancers, actors, exhibitions and conferences.
“We’d like to think that top end artists who wouldn’t have come to Galway because there just wasn’t a suitable venue, who would want to play in luxurious surroundings, will now want to come,” he said.
