Nashville stalwarts line out for country show in Monroe’s

A triple bill of Nashville songwriters come to Monroe’s Live in Dominick Street this Sunday, July 2.

Pete Kennedy, Shantell Ogden and Marcum Stewart are all based in the Tennessee city and firmly established in the country scene.

From Ireland but living in Nashville since 2010, Kennedy’s list of musical collaborators includes Earl Budd Lee (Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton), Jan Buckingham (Whitney Houston) and American Idol and Grand Ole Opry star Ayla Brown. From early heroes like The Eagles, Kris Kristofferson and Emmylou Harris to contemporary artists such as Garth Brooks and Rascal Flatts, Pete’s influences are evident in his distinctive crossover style

Another Nashville stalwart, Shantell Ogden has toured internationally and been played on over 800 country stations in the US and elsewhere. Her song Just a Little taps into the pop direction taken by many current country writers.

Marcum Stewart, who is originally from Huntington, West Virginia, started playing piano at the age of four. He began writing songs at 12, and taught himself how to play guitar at 15, then bass and drums.  In 1994, he moved to Nashville to work as songwriter and producer and his aim is to score a major hit with singers who come to Nashville looking for a song.

This is a fascinating triple bill for those interested in country and grafters from the Nashville scene.
