Galway Bay fm newsroom – Nama’s assets in Galway may be included in a new drive to boost the national housing supply.
According to today’s Irish Times, the National Asset Management Agency plans to intensify its lending activities as it works to completely dispose of its assets by 2018.
The government has pledged to take new steps to tackle the housing shortage particularly in Dublin, but it’s expected that Galway, Limerick and Cork could also benefit from the move.
A major review of Nama will today recommend the agency should focus more on delivering residential housing.
The plan would see Nama provide more development financing to viable developers and make up for the continued shortfall in bank lending.
The review will also recommend Nama continue in existence, despite speculation that it could be wound up early, because foreign investors have shown interest in acquiring its massive property book.
