N17 TO REMAIN OPEN DURING FLOOD WORKS IN CLAREGALWAY

A stretch of the N17 at Claregalway will remain open and a traffic plan will be put in place while flood works take place next month.

It follows representations from Galway West TD Noel Grealish and Oranmore Councillor Jim Cuddy.

Part of the road was due to be closed for up to six weeks to allow for works following the publication of a report on the Clare River.

According to both Deputy Grealish and Councillor Cuddy, this would have had a devastating effect on local businesses.
