N17 DUE TO REOPEN IN THE NEXT HOUR AFTER FATAL CRASH

The N17 road near Tuam, which has been closed since last night due to a fatal crash, is expected to open in the next hour.

A van and bus, carrying 27 college students to Limerick collided head-on at Glenafosha outside Tuam shortly after half past 7 last night. [7/11]

The 60 year old driver of the bus, who had been living in Westport, and the driver of the van, who was in his 30s and from Salthill, were killed.

Gardaí have not yet released their names until they are formally identified.
