Musicians support Manuela Foundation
Date Published: 25-Aug-2009
A FUNDRAISER for the Manuela Riedo Foundation has been launched in Galway.
The fundraiser, a night of music, takes place on Friday, October 2 in the Salthill Hotel. It is being organised to raise funds for the foundation that has been set up in her memory. Manuela Riedo, the 17 year old Swiss student who had just arrived in Galway to take English classes, was murdered in the city in Autumn 2007.
The night of music features such acts as Marc Roberts, Don Stiffe, Mary McPartlan, Sean Costello, Frank Naughton, Trad on the Prom, Lucia Evans and Sharon Shannon. Her parents Hans-Peter and Arlette Riedo started the foundation and are in full support of the event in Galway. “I can understand why people in Galway would want to help, it is where my daughter lost her life. It is natural for the people there would want to help the foundation and we hope to travel to Galway to be part of it” explained Arlette Riedo.
The Manuela Riedo Foundation’s general mission is to help and support rape victims and their families across Europe.
