A celebration of the genius and music of John Lennon comes to Galway next week with Lennon: Through A Glass Onion.

The show will be staged in the Black box Theatre in Galway City on Wednesday, September 14, fresh off its off-Broadway success in New York. Inspired by the song Glass Onion, which was John Lennon’s postscript to The Beatles, this show peels away the layers of time and myth to offer clear insight into essence of the life and astonishing talent of one of the world’s most treasured icons.

Part-concert and part-biography, this two-hander featuring West End star Daniel Taylor and showcases 31 hits of Lennon and Lennon/McCartney, including Imagine, Revolution, and Jealous Guy in a kaleidoscope collage of song, word and emotion.

Taylor has won critical acclaim as the lead role in The Tommy Cooper Show and is currently starring as Mickey in Down The Dock Road.

He will be joined by accompanist Stewart D’Arrietta, who recently enjoyed a nine-month New York run of his Tom Waits show, Belly of a Drunken Piano. Earlier this year, he was the musical director for The White Album Concert by The Beatles, performing on stage at the world famous Sydney Opera House.

■ Tickets for the show cost €25, and are available from www.tht.ie
