CITY TRIBUNE
Museum looking to future with Covid-19 letter project
Galway City Museum is inviting the people of Galway to write letters to future generations of Galwegians, sharing our experiences of living through the Covid-19 pandemic. Writers can also offer advice to future generations on how to cope during a global crisis.
The museum staff have suggested themes for the letters but stress that these are not exhaustive.
Writers can describe how they felt when they first found out about Covid-19. They can explore how the pandemic affected their family, social life, work, college or school experience, and the issues that have most concerned them during this time.
If people have marked any big events or occasions during Covid-19, these offer a perfect topic. Writing about ways of passing the time during a pandemic is also of interest – perhaps with reference to new skills or hobbies acquired.
With restrictions on face-to-face meetings, staying in contact with friends and loved ones has been a challenge for many and it’s an ideal theme.
