MURDERED MANUELA’S FUNERAL SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY

It’s now thought that the funeral of murdered language student Manuela Riedo will take place in her home town in Switzerland on Thursday

The body of the 17 year murdered in Renmore last Monday was to have been flown home yesterday, but paperwork and procedures delayed this to tomorrow or Tuesday

Maneula was an only child and her parents have so far been too distraught to travel to Ireland, so it’s understood a Swiss Embassy official will accompany her body home

A member of staff from Galway Language Centre at Mill Street, where Manuela had registered for her two week course, will attend the removal at Hinterkappelan, near Berne, on Thursday

He will present Manuela’s mother Arlette and her father Hans, with the books of condolence which have been signed in Galway

The latest book to open is in Galway Cathedral, and large numbers of Galway people distraught by the sad death of the young girl have been signing it

Meanwhile, six days into the investigation into the vicious murder Gardaí are continuing to piece together her last movements in an effort to find her killer

Speaking to Galway Bay Fm news senior Garda sources say, that contrary to some reports there has not been any major DNA breakthrough in the investigation.
