MURDER TRIAL OF GALWAYMAN HEARS ATTACK WAS SELF DEFENCE

The murder trial in the UK of Galway man Cathal Ivan Hughes has been told he was killed in a ‘him or me’ situation.

The court heard evidence of events leading up to the fatal stabbing of Cathal Hughes, who is originally from Corrib Park in Newcastle.

Paul Prendergast of Margate Road, Ramsgate denies murdering Mr. Hughes, but told the court Cathal Hughes was trying to attack him.

The trial continues at Maidstone Crown Court.
