More work to be done to tackle Galway’s litter problems
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The chairperson of Galway City’s tidy towns committee says there’s still work to be done to tackle Galway’s litter problems.
City Councillor Niall McNelis says 1.7 million euro is spent by the city council in maintaining public areas.
Limerick city council spends around 3.5 million euro, and Cork city council spends around 7 million euro.
Despite its relatively small spend, Galway has moved up the ranks in the latest Irish Business Against Litter league.
It has been deemed ‘clean to European norms’ and has moved up seven places in the league to stand in 21st position.
Chairperson of Galway City Tidy Town committee Councillor Niall McNelis says a series of focused improvements could see Galway reach ‘cleaner than European norms’ status.
