More time needed for new Ballinasloe neighbourhood centre

Galway Bay fm newsroom – More time is being sought to build a neighbourhood centre in Ballinasloe.
Peter Melville has applied for an extension of time on planning permission for the development at Canal Road and Slí na Abhainn, Dunlo and Poolboy.
The neighbourhood centre will consist of 3 mixed-use blocks with 118 apartments, a creche, coffee shop, restaurant, shops, offices and underground parking.
It’ll also include a stand-alone juice and ice-cream parlour, playground and landscaped areas.
Permission was originally granted for the neighbourhood centre in 2009 and will expire later this year.
Peter Melville is now seeking 5 more years to build the development in Ballinasloe as he was unable to proceed with it up to now, because of the economic downturn.
Planners at Galway County Council are due to decide on the future of the neighbourhood centre at Dunlo next month.
