More than €1m worth of Galway homes sold at national auction

Twelve properties in Galway sold for a total in excess of €1.1 million when they went under the hammer as part of a nationwide auction.

Around 200 properties across the country were sold at the Allsop auction in Dublin, which netted a total of €35 million.

Commercial Director Robert Hoban said: “As the year draws to a close, we can see healthy interest in solid investments located in areas of high population.”

The agent said Galway offering included many income-producing properties, as well as a large selection of vacant houses and apartments suitable for owner-occupiers and buy-to-let investors.

Among the residential properties sold were:

6 Clifton Crescent, Newcastle, Galway. A detached three-bed bungalow extending to 1,420 sq ft and close to NUI Galway and University Hospital. The reserve was €200,000 and it sold for €290,000.

Cor Na Ron, Inverin. A detached four-bed bungalow with gardens to the front and rear. The property measures 829 sq ft and sold at its €90,000 reserve price.

138 Rahylin Glebe, Ballybane, Galway. End-of-terrace house arranged to provide two self-contained 1-bed apartments. The reserve price was €75,000 and it sold at €102,500.

7 Gort na Ri, Ballyhugh, Gort. A detached four-bed house extending to 1,754 sq ft, which is currently rented at €3,000 per annum. The reserve price was €60,000 and it sold for €125,000.

3 The Lodges, Shannon Oaks Hotel, Portumna. Detached five-bed house on the hotel grounds measuring 1,700 sq ft. The reserve price was €50,000 and it sold for €76,000.

17 The Lodges, Shannon Oaks Hotel. Detached five bed similar to the previous property, and it sold at its €50,000 reserve.

14 Marian Park, Portumna. Three-bed mid-terrace house measuring 653 sq ft located on the N65 with access via Shannon road. It sold at its €55,000 reserve.

On the commercial side, highlights included a mixed-use investment at 17 Main Street, Loughrea (Style Secrets) comprising two retail units together with four apartments overhead. The tenants are not affected. The property had a reserve price of €150,000 to €180,000 and sold for €160,000.

Also on Main Street is another mixed-use building comprising a retail unit at ground floor level with a five bedroom apartment on the first and second floors. A single storey warehouse is situated to the rear. The reserve range on this property was €55,000 to €75,000 and it sold for €105,000.
