MORE THAN 3 THOUSAND PENDING CLAIMS FOR SOCIAL WELFARE IN GALWAY

Over 3 thousand people are waiting for social welfare payments in Galway as a result of a huge backlog in claims.

The number of unemployed people being left to wait for jobseeker’s benefit or allowance in Galway currently stands at 3,324.

This figure means Galway has the second highest waiting list in the country behind Dublin which has over 14 thousand people waiting for financial assistance.

According to today’s Irish Examiner, over 3 thousand people are waiting in Cork while over 2,200 claims are pending in Limerick.
