More home blues for Utd

ANOTHER point on the board, but another missed opportunity to grab a first home win of the season as a depleted UCD side held Galway United scoreless in horrendous conditions in Terryland on Friday night.

The first round of games has now been played and United have won just once in those 11 games — away to Bray last month — and they really need to string a few wins together to move away from the bottom of the table.

Tony Cousins’ side has taken just three points from their first six home games of the season, scoring a meagre four goals in the process, and that lack of a cutting edge up front on Friday night was once again the reason they failed to take all three points on offer.

United created the better chances, and had eight shots on target during the game, but they couldn’t find a way past…….
