Moegie Maher elected as Chairperson of Loughrea Municipal District

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Fine Gael Cllr Michael ‘Moegie’ Maher has been elected as the Cathaoirleach of Loughrea Municipal District.
The group held its first meeting at the local authority office at Barrack Street in the town today, however Cllr Pat Hynes was not present.
‘Moegie’ Maher was proposed as Chair by Fine Gael newcomer Joe Byrne and seconded by Cllr Jimmy McClearn.
Fianna Fail newcomer Shane Donnellan was elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach.
The Municipal District Manager Jim Cullen paid tribute to outgoing Cllr Bridie Willers who lost her seat in the local election.
