Mixed emotions for Lee
Date Published: 12-Sep-2007
ONLY time will tell whether the current crop of Galway U-21s will go on to enjoy senior successes with the county, but for centre back John Lee it really felt like the end of an era as he stood outside the victors’ dressingroom on Sunday afternoon.
Almost two decades may have passed since the Liam McCarthy Cup crossed the Shannon, but these lads have grown up with no fear of the Kilkennys, Corks, and Tipperarys of the hurling world.
The 20-year old centre back missed the 2005 All-Ireland U-21 final when he opted to spend the summer in America two years ago, but he has forged strong bonds with the members of the panels who
won back-to-back minor titles in 2004 and 2005.
