Minors must be wary of underdogs

GALWAY’S minor footballers must account for surprise package Carlow in Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final in Tullamore (2pm) if they are to advance to a penultimate showdown against the might of either Tyrone or Kerry in Croke Park on August 19.
As quarter-final assignments go, this is a tricky one for Galway. The task in hand has not been made any easier following the loss of corner back Eanna Glynn,who underwent a cartilage operation earlier this week.
The young Tribesmen may also have to plan without midfielder Jason Devane and centre-half forward Tommy Walsh, both of whom have been nursing injuries in recent weeks.
“Jason Devane has an ankle injury, he is doubtful, while Tommy Walsh has also been struggling with a hip injury,” revealed Galway manager Alan Mulholland. “Tommy will undergo a fitness test before we name the team later in the week.”
