Galway bay fm newsroom – The junior Health Minister has vowed to address any emerging trends in drug activity in Galway.

Minister Alex White launched the Western Region Drugs Task Force Awareness week this afternoon at the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit.

The week runs from today until Saturday and involves seminars, information evenings and exhibitions at venues across the city and county.

This Friday, the Ballinasloe substance misuse response group will host a candlelit vigil of hope, in solidarity with those whose lives have been touched by addiction.

The government has a national drug strategy for dealing with drug and alcohol abuse, which works across prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and research.

Labour TD Alex White says the Government is working to identify and deal with issues across all communities including those in Galway
