MINISTER TO LAUNCH NEW HIGH SPEED BROADBAND IN CONNEMARA

High speed broadband services will be brought to Southwest Connemara today with the launch of a new high speed telecommunications network.

The new network will be operated by AirSpeed Telecom and will be available for business users within the Galway Gaeltacht.

The broadband will be available at seven of NUI Galway’s Gaeltacht campuses in Carna, Indreabhán and An Cheathrú Rua.

The broadband network is the result of a joint initiative by NUI Galway, HEAnet and Udarás na Gaeltachta to address the lack of connectivity for companies and businesses in southwest Connemara.

Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Eamon O’Cuiv will launch the new broadband service at noon in Carraroe.
