Minister sinks a new authority for Corrib

At attempt by a city TD to seek the establishment of a stand alone water authority — aimed at tackling problems like the city’s recent water crisis — has been shot down by Environment Minister John Gormley.
Labour Party TD Michael D. Higgins had asked Minister Gormley to examine the setting up of such an authority given the ongoing crises effecting the water supply from the Corrib network.
