Minister of State Alan Kelly is to make contact with city officials to relook at proposals for a city park and ride at Galway Airport.

It follows a meeting with the Chamber of Commere this month which was also attended by Labour Deputy Derek Nolan and Cllr Niall McNelis.

Last month, reports of filed accounts showed the Carnmore based airport incurred a 6 million euro loss after the government decision to end subsidies.

The directors’ report said that management is trying to secure tenants for the hangars and finalise agreements with the local authorities for use of the car parks for park n ride.

Speaking in the city earlier this month, Minister Kelly who has special responsibility for public and commuter transport, said the proposal for park n ride has significant merits.
