MINISTER O CUIV SAYS NEW PORTFOLIO WILL BE CHALLENGING

Minister Eamon O Cuív has admitted his new portfolio in the Department of Social Protection will be "challenging."

In announcing changes to the Cabinet, Taoiseach Brian Cowen has given Minister O Cuiv the Department of Social Protection with a budget of well over 20 billion euro.

Minister O Cuív has been in the Gaeltacht Department both as a Minister of State and senior Minister for the past 13 years.
