MINISTER O CUIV SAYS FUNDING IS NOT THE ISSUE FOR FOINSE

Connemara based Minister Éamon Ó Cuív has told the Dáil that lack of funding is not an issue in the dispute between Irish language newspaper, Foinse and Foras na Gaeilge.

After being questioned by Fine Gael’s Gaeltacht spokesman, Dinny McGinley, on the issue, the Minister assured the Dáil that Foras na Gaeilge had never raised the matter of a shortage of funds with him.

Foinse is facing an uncertain future after it emerged that the newspaper has suffered a 75 percent reduction in advertising revenue and is now losing money every week.
