Schools at threat of closure over proposed pupil-teacher ratio thresholds, including those in Galway, should be made aware of the teacher allocation by Easter.

That’s according to Galway West T.D, Sean Kyne, who was among a delegation to hold a meeting with the Minister for Education on the issue this week.

The proposed changes will impact on the pupil teacher ratio of 2, 3, and 4 teacher schools.

However, Minister for Education, Ruairí Quinn says no schools will close as a result of an increase in the pupil – teacher ratio.
