A local fundraising group for a young Connemara cerebal palsy sufferer will appeal to the Minister for Health Mary Harney not to cut essential services or funding when she visits Galway this week

Minister Harney has agreed to meet 2 year old Mia Allen from Seanaféistín, Casla at the Galway Bay Hotel on Thursday

Mia’s Hope was set up by family and friends to help send Mia to China for stem cell treatment and to raise awareness and help other sufferers

Jimi Larkin of Mia’s Hope.ie fears that essential services for families like Mia’s will suffer if certain recommendations by an Bord Snip Nua are adopted

He says that families are under severe economic pressure at present as a result of having to pay for physiotherapy services themselves
