Minister for Agriculture to open Connemara pony festival in Clifden
Galway Bay Fm newsroom – This year’s Connemara Pony Festival will be officially opened today (sun) in Clifden by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.
Minister Simon Coveney will give a speech marking the opening of the annual week long event which attracts visitors from all over the world.
The hightlight of the week will be the Connemara Pony Show which will be running for the 91st consecutive year since 1924.
The event will showcase over four hundred Connemara ponies to a local and international audience.
Other activites at the festival will include horse jumping competions, performance shows, riding classes, dog shows, Irish dancing and arts displays.
The week long series of events will run from today until next Sunday.
