Minister addresses Galway conference on urban growth
The Minster for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy will be joined by National Transport Authority CEO Anne Graham and Land Development Agency chairman John Moran at a major conference on urban development in Galway next week.
The inaugural City Regions Ireland event is organised by Galway Chamber and takes place on Thursday week, March 28, at the ILAS Building in NUIG, with registration from 8.30am.
The half-day conference, entitled ‘Ireland’s Cities – Powerhouses of Regional Growth’, will explore how Ireland’s five cities can fulfill their goals of economic development set out in the National Planning Framework and Project Ireland 2040.
The conference is being organised under the umbrella of City Regions Ireland, an association of the Chambers in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
Galway Chamber President Dave Hickey said that the event aimed to tease out the implications of the NPF and understand what it means in terms of housing, transport, commercial development and leisure for each urban area.
