Galway Bay fm newsroom – Newly elected MEP Luke Ming Flanagan has said it would be his ‘ideal situation’ to see Galway Cllr Michael Fitzmaurice fill his seat when a by-election is called.
The seat vacated by the former TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim is now up for grabs with a date for the by-election yet to be called.
Michael Fitzmaurice of the Turf Cutters and Contractors Association has recently begun his first term on Galway County Council.
He says he is settling in to the role and is happy where he is at the present time.
However he did concede he is weighing up his options and would not rule anything in or out.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, MEP Flanagan described him as the ‘great oracle’ and said the new councillor would be a perfect fit for the position.
