MICHAEL D HIGGINS OFFICIALLY DECLARED PRESIDENT ELECT

Galway’s Michael D Higgins has been announced as President-Elect of Ireland.

The official result came just before half past four at Dublin Castle national count centre where he exceeded 1 million votes.

He’s been given a scroll, verified by the Chief Justice, ahead of his inauguration in Dublin Castle on November 11th.

In his victory speech Michael D Higgins said he wants to be a President for everyone, those who didn’t vote and those who’ve left our shores.
