MET EIREANN ISSUES SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR THE WEST

The Road Safety Authority is urging road users in Galway to take care in the coming days with ‘extremely windy’ conditions expected.

Met Éireann says there’ll be very strong southerly and southwesterly winds – and a risk of stormy conditions in the west and north.

The Road Safety Authority says drivers of high-sided vehicles and motorcyclists in particular should be exercise caution.

A severe weather warning issued by Met Eireann for Galway says strong south to southwest winds during tomorrow will reach average speeds of 70 to 90 kph at their peak during the evening with gusts of 120 to 140 kph likely.
