Mervue United face busy day of Connacht Cup finals action
Mervue United has three underage teams in Connacht Cup final action this Saturday, with the three games all down for decision at Moyne Villa’s grounds in Headford.
The Fahy’s Field side have expressed its thanks to Kiltimagh-Knock of Mayo for agreeing to move the kick-off in the U-12 final from noon to 11.30am – the Connacht FA had scheduled both the U-12 and U-14 finals for noon on Saturday, despite the fact Mervue United has three sets of brothers involved with both squads, a situation a spokesperson for Mervue United described as “ridiculous”.
The U-14 side will face Castlebar Celtic at noon; while the club’s U-18 (Youth) team will take on a Conn Rangers side that knocked them out of the FAI Youth Cup in the first round of the competition earlier in the season – the meeting with the Mayo side in the Connacht Youth Shields final will kick-off at 3pm.
