Mervue’s injury concerns mounting

MERVUE United will be looking for another ’first’ in their debut season in the League of Ireland when they travel to Kingspan Century Park tonight for the club’s fourth game of the campaign against Monaghan United (kick-off 8pm).
Having played their first match in the league (against Athlone Town), scored their first goal (against Limerick FC) and then, last week, taking their first point (against Finn Harps), Johnny Glynn’s side will be hoping for their first win of the campaign against a Monaghan side who are one place above Mervue in the league, with goal difference the only thing separating the two sides.
Glynn will be without David O’Dowd tonight, the striker having to serve a one-match ban for bookings picked up last season as a result of the FAI’s archaic disciplinary proceedings; while Nigel Keady met with an orthopaedic consultant yesterday in relation to a knee injury, and is likely to be out for at least another month.
