Mercedes Benz set to deliver 23 new models to the market in 2021

The Mercedes Benz S Class 2021.

It is that time of the year when car companies are busy coaxing customers and bearing all sorts of gifts for buyers for 2021. Low interest rates, scrappage deals, extra incentives and offers are coming at us thick and fast, but the biggest gift of all is the re-opening of dealer showrooms under Covid-19 Level 3 restrictions.

Customers can again look the sales people in the eye and view cars in the metal that they might want to buy and do the best deal face-to-face. While online sales are on the up, it is my view that there is still no substitute for getting up close and personal to the model range, sitting in your dream car, and taking it for a proper test drive before you buy.

Meanwhile, if you weren’t aware of the surge to electrification is gathering momentum by the day, then all you have to do is take a good look at what Mercedes-Benz is planning for the coming year. Karl Benz patented the world’s first automobile back in 1886, and in 2021 they will deliver no fewer than 23 new models spread across eight months beginning January.

Of these, just six will be conventionally powered vehicles, five will be fully electric models and a further 12 new PHEV plug-in electric hybrids.

First to arrive in January will be their new flagship S-Class, followed later in the month by a Maybach GLS, the first foray by the German carmaker into the luxury crossover segment.

In June, revised versions of the 4-door CLS Coupé and AMG GT 4-door Coupé, along with a new S580 Maybach, are scheduled. Later they will introduce a new SL two-door sports model and a new C-Class in Saloon, Estate and All-Terrain model variants.
