Men tracked down on Facebook apologise for bakery break-in
Three young men have apologised to the owner of Griffin’s Bakery after they were caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
The three men broke into the bakery on a night out last Tuesday, and were captured clearly on CCTV.
Following the incident, Jimmy Griffin uploaded CCTV photographs to the bakery’s Facebook page, with an accompanying message: “If you know these men, please [private message] me on [Facebook].”
The Facebook status received several responses, including one with a link to one of the men’s Facebook pages. This allowed Mr Griffin to find out who they were and where they are working.
“I talked to the principal where the guys are working [for the summer] and he said this was very out of character and gave them a very good character reference,” Mr Griffin told the Sentinel.
He went on to say: “They were genuinely upset and sorry for what happened … they’re young and I said I’d give them a chance.”
On Thursday morning, Mr Griffin removed the young men’s photographs from the internet and posted a new status to Facebook, saying that they had apologised.
“Thank you all on [Facebook] for your information and replies. One of the gentlemen in the photographs was man enough to phone me this morning and apologise for the incident. Having spoken to him and listened to his apology, I have accepted that this was a once off incident and will not be repeated ever again,” Mr Griffin posted.
“At the end of the day, boys will be boys,” he laughed.
