MEETING THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS HSE REPORT INTO SAVITA DEATH

Sinn Féin says the Government should not publish the report into the death of Savita Halappanavar until the concerns of her family are met.

31-year-old Savita died of septicaemia at University Hospital Galway last October after suffering a miscarriage.

A HSE report into her death is understood to have found an over emphasis on the welfare of the foetus which was unviable rather than on Savita’s deteriorating heath.

Savita’s husband Praveen says the report fails to explain why she died.  His solicitor and a medical advisor will meet the chairman of the investigating team on his behalf  later this week.

Sinn Féin’s Health Spokesperson, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin says the report cannot proceed without addressing Praveen’s concerns.
