Meet in Galway – comprising local venues, hotels, activity providers, travel companies and conference organisers – have joined forces to attract business tourism and international conferences into the city.

From multinational companies to international associations from small firms to businesses in their infancy, the Meet in Galway team has assisted many organisations plan memorable and successful events.

Providing support in bidding, site visits, conference organisation, gala events, team building activities, accommodation and transfers, the group have been busy over the past two putting Galway on the international business tourism map.

As part of their marketing drive the group has recently published a new brochure which will be distributing at upcoming shows and events in the UK and US.

These shows are attended by numerous international organisations and companies seeking the perfect location for their annual conference or event.

The brochure highlights the benefits of bringing an international conference to Galway from ease of access to the wide variety of unique and spacious conference venues available, to the range of action-packed activities on offer on the Galway stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way to the abundance of excellent dining and entertainment options available in the region.

According to research recently carried out by Fáilte Ireland, the spend by an international conference delegate in 2013 was more than twice that of a leisure tourist, with the total value of their stay calculated at €1,150 to €1,400.

To complement this brochure, the Meet in Galway group has also increased its online presence with a complete overhaul of its meetingalway.ie website and an active presence on social media outlets.

Meet in Galway chairman Darragh O’Connor described the organisation as a key resource for anyone looking at bringing business to Galway.

“Our new website and brochure showcase the corporate aspect to city and also highlight the amazing activities that are available for you and your delegates to bring  your next meeting  to this great County.

“It has been well received by local businesses at a recent Galway Chamber of Commerce Event and we are looking forward to showcasing the brochure at our next overseas trade mission in Frankfurt this May,” he added.
