Medtronic’s massive jobs boost for Galway
One of Galway’s biggest employers is set to announce 200 new jobs this week – as it marks 40 years of phenomenal growth in Ireland.
Medtronic, which already employs over 3,000 staff at its Galway city plants in Parkmore and Mervue, is expanding to take on 200 new Research and Development roles – and this will see significant growth in New Product Development and a new Global Laboratory Services team in Galway.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar is due in Galway tomorrow (Friday) to celebrate 40 years of the MedTech giant’s presence in the country – although its arrival into the west came later, in 1999, when the multi-national acquired the former CR Bard facility in Parkmore.
Minister Varadkar is expected to confirm the Galway expansion then, which is understood to be part of a major €30 million capital investment by Medtronic.
The global leader in medical technology, services and solutions, Medtronic already employs more than 4,000 people across five sites in Galway, Dublin and Athlone.
