Mayor tested for Connemara roots in Portland

Galway bay fm newsroom -The descendants of west Connemara emigrants are now leaving their mark on the political landscape in the northern States of America.

This is the final week of the Mayoral campaign in Boston with Marty Walsh – the son of Connemara emigrants running neck and neck with his opponent, John Connolly.

Further north in Portland – the largest city in Maine – the Mayor’s chair is occupied by Michael Brennan whose grandmother was a native of Inishnee, near Roundstone

They even tested the Mayors roots and his DNA is found in Inishnee and on both sides of Bertraghboy Bay in west Connemara.
