Mayor of Galway, Padraig Conneely has described as “absolutely appalling” the high numbers of people on trolleys in UHG casualty

Thirty eight patients are waiting on trolleys in the casualty department, ten of whom are on trolleys spilling out into the public area.

The HSE has refused to say what the cause of the backlog might be, or how quickly the situation can be brought under control.

Mayor Conneely says that people waiting on beds at UHG are in a distressed state.
