MAYOR OF COUNTY GALWAY CALLS FOR RAIL LINE TO BE OPENED TO SLIGO

Mayor of County Galway, Tom McHugh has said he wants to see the Western Rail Corridor continuing northwards to Sligo.

He was speaking as the first train from Limerick in over 34 years arrived at Ceannt Station in the city this afternoon.

The full schedule of services from Limerick to Galway begins tomorrow with five services each way Monday to Saturday and four on a Sunday.

Mayor McHugh says that while today’s opening is welcome, the line must be opened further.
