Mayor claims city brothel doing good business
Galway bay fm newsroom – The Chairperson of the City Joint Policing Committee, Mayor Padraig Conneely claims a brothel in the city is booming as a business.
He raised the issue at a meeting of the committee this week where he told the members that someone monitored the alleged brothel over a 4 hour period.
Mayor Conneely said that 17 people entered the apartment building over the period and in the public interest, the person monitoring the alleged brothel entered too.
He said that services were openly advertised for 100 euro.
Chief Superintendent Tom Curley says there is a process which must be followed when investigating alleged brothels.
He said Gardaí have to gather evidence that the ‘lady of the house’ or owner is running a brothel.
Then Gardaí have to go to the courts to get the ‘business’ shut down and that Gardaí can’t discuss cases that could come before the courts.
