MARINE MINISTER APPROVES SALMON FARMING LICENCE FOR CONNEMARA

An Udaras na Gaeltachta backed company has been assigned a salmon farming licence that consolidates five former licence holders in the South Connemara area.

Bradán Beo Teoranta will take over licences previously held by DCMI Golam Teo, Muirachmhainni Teo, Eisc Ui Fhlatharta Teo, Eisc Iathglas Teo and Muir Gheal Teo.

The assignment of the aquaculture licences took place with the agreement of the five licence holders and follows a lengthy examination of salmon farming in the region.

Minister for the Marine Simon Coveney says the consolidation of licences will greatly assist the sustainable development of salmon farming in Connemara.
